I have an Intel Pentium M with a supposed 1.86GHz processing speed, no negative coments required, yet when I ran Star Wars:Battlefront II it said I only had a 400MHz processing speed. It's confusing me and I'm worried about being able to play some of the newer games coming out. When I run Battlefront I can't play space missions and the background is flash(which I believe is because I don't have a "TnL"). Any info would be nice.

lol lets see if google really is omniscient. I go there for all my other problems.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough but I didn't find anything.

Hmm, From what i understand p4-m is a mobile processor which runs underclocked when low on battery??(my turion-64 runs at 800mhz once it is on battery power), there might be an option to change the power scheme, so that cpu won't be underclocked.

Yes , every laptop runs at a lower cpu speed when your using the battery.

There's a program to optimize your battery saving on the computer, that's why the speed went that low.

Either that or your motherboard is broken and having problem with the cpu.

All these are simple solutions. If you still have this problem, as I have, your suppose to update ur BIOS. I was told that some software I may have installed have reclocked my settings and I would have to reset them or update BIOS. Iactually bought a bios program for 15$ called CheckitPE, its a standalone OS that loads on a system disk before your boot. Worked tho.. lol.

Most laptop processors are intelligent and only clock to teh speed needed at the current time...if not all the pipelines are in use the CPU will clock down to a slower speed to accomodate for battery life. however as soon as u start playing a game it should jack up to somewhere near its max...this is true for sure for the centrinos and im almost sure for the m procs too. changing ur powersaver setting can help sometimes as well...this can be found in ur control panel.
