I'm trying to direct connect with my friend on Limewire so i can get all the songs he has, but it says

Your computer is behind a firewall or router and cannot recieve direct connections.


his says the same thing. How do i unblock my firewall // router

(i dont got zonealarm, norton, and of those .. this is a new hardrive and i havent downloaded anythign onto it besides adaware)

Windows has a firewall and so does some dsl/cable modems.

if you have a linksys router or any router with a firewall only way you can get passed it is by putting your computer on a DMZ server, in your options when you connect to the router through your browser, and if that still doesnt work try and see what ports limewire needs and make sure you disable the windows firewall

i think like with cable / dsl routers there is a built in firewall that can only be gone around by advances shit like port forwarding and complicated shiznat. tell him to find another way to send the files.

port forwarding is easy. I showed bish how to do it.

open limewire

goto tools > options

then expand "advanced" & goto firewall config

it shows what port its using and some other options


try to manually forward the port.

i thought upnp did it for you though -_-
