Need help

I have a 250 GB Western Digital external Hard drive, and it recently started having errors. When I try opening the folders I have in it, it pops an error about Windows Explorer needs to shut, then another error message pops up that says The exception Integer division by zero. (0xc0000094) occurred in the application at location 0x03aed11.

When I try to format it, it gives me an error saying that other programs or users are using the hard drive.

I some how managed to fix this, I think some files that were deleted before were still left in other places such as my C: drive
