Breaking about a 50/50 in 2v2 random ladder, sadly thats way better than I used to be. the games a lot of fun though, im personally quite a fan of the DT swat squad and carrier/void raying. 4 dt's can kill a thor in approx 2 seconds, so having 6 or 8 front lining against an advancing wall of 12 thors means all those resources go out the window in under 30 seconds. =D

dark templars -_-. we ALWAYS just shortened it to dt's. and thors are big ass terran gundam robot things that are basically the equivalent of ultralisks i guess. but way bigger

Nah, I'm pretty sure they can hit air too, i should have specified. I'm pretty sure they're at the end of the terran tech tree, that's why I compared them to ultralisks. In any case, come over some time and play and it'll be way easier to explain everything =P

Not that I've seen. They've been patching the beta a fair bit if the patch notes are any indication, so i assume its still a fair ways off. End of the year, maybe?

So yeah, old strats kinda went out the window. screw void rays. If the enemy masses anything but mutas/vikings/banshees/carriers/bcs/corruptors I just go straight for immortals/collosi now after first expansion and throwing up some robotics labs. They lay waste to stalkers/roaches/marines and buildings like they're nothing. if its one of the aforementioned air I go for carriers, becuase they're goddamn op in this game.

For those of you who are curious, the common builds are:

Terran:
MMM: Marines (marines...), Marauders (essentially replaced firebats, has a grenade launcher that slows units. Only hits ground), and Medivacs (the dropships now heal biological units, no more medics, so they drop marines and marauders, and then heal them). This is typically present regardless of the rest of the strat the terran uses.
Mass Banshees (think wraiths, except they can only hit ground. Can still stealth, and are really easy to tech to quickly)
Mass Vikings (replaced goliaths + valkyries, are originally planes that only hit air, can switch to walking mechs that only hit ground, and back again)
Semi-rarely: Quick nuking. pain in the ass without proper stealth detection and will wipe out all your workers and lesser buildings instantly
Rarely: BC's (not great, but in large numbers can obviously decimate you)

Zerg:
Ling rush (bastards)
Mass Roaches (pretty ineffective but early on can be brutal
Mass Mutas (overpowered as hell, protoss really have no counter to this, that needs to be fixed somehow)
Mass corruptors w/ mutas (dont really understand quite what they do, I know they can broodling units and buildling so that when they blow up little broodlings pop up, other than that I think they're like devourers)
Rarely: Mass hydras, much higher in tech tree now so not really worth it

Protoss:
Mass Carriers: Incredibly powerful, but obviously still vulnerable to focus fire. More effective than in SC1
Mass Collosi: Mixed with other ground units like immortals, stalkers and zealots, but these guys can walk up cliffs straight into the opponents base and AOE nuke their bulidings and units. Can wipe out MMM in seconds.
Early void rays: hit toss/zerg before they can hit air (pretty much any time before mutas/hydras), very good at destroying buildings so its game over
Zealot rush: you and your partner both get half a dozen zealots in the enemies base in the first 5 minutes and theres very little they can do. Thwarted quite easily by walling the entrance, especially against terran.
Proxy Pylon: send a probe to build gateways near the enemies base (preferably with your partner) or to build pylons and cannons in the back of hte enemies base and leapfrog them into their workers. pain in the ass strat, usually doesn't work, but if you manage to get it up quickly enough you can easily discourage one of the opponents into leaving.

Thats all I can think of right now. A lot of gimp strategies in my bracket, im curious to see how it pans out in higher ladders

I got it setup with lazy launch or whatever so I am playing computers right now, pretty boring and easy. It is what it is. Hellions are bad ass too. They're like vultures with flametrowers that do line damage are fast as shit. Great for wasting a mineral field full of workers. It's sick how many marines you can pump with one of those upgraded barracks now too.

how do the beta keys work? can you delete the beta off of your battle.net account? i know this kid that got one given to him and he said he just gets his ass kicked all the time and he is joinin the army. so maybe i'll try to buy it off him or something? if yall know anything you better let me know.

I doubt its transferable or reusable. He could give you his whole bnet account, that would allow you to play it, although the EULA says it needs to only be installed on one comp at a time so keep that in mind. There are lots and lots of ways to get keys now, it's practically open beta at the rate theyve been giving them out.

I think probably the greatest moment I've had came today against Boyle. I snuck an overlord into his base and placed some creep and spawned a nydus worm. Here is a rough transcript of what followed:
Boyle: "What's that?"
Me: "You'll see"
*Worm bursts through the ground*
Boyle: "WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?! THIS ISN'T GOD OF WAR!"

2-16 is the day the beta came out. Its entirely likely that 6-11 is the day the regular game is released. Just a heads up, as the designers apparently said they took care to put meticulous detail into this picture of the marine on the website.

Time to start with the NERF MUTALISKS NERF MARAUDERS NERF SENTRIES whining/discussion threads, I wanna hear what kinda strategies people are using and what it is that people need help with
